Working on these BGs is like doing work all over again. The scene before this was an establishing shot, and these just need to match the color and style. Nothing new - but lots of checking to make sure the work isn't straying off of the key. This one was also a two-parter, where I up-rezed the BG so that on the close-up part there is no resolution degradation. In short, just work that has to be done without much "New" to see. Now I'm trying to decide if I should work out the remaing BGs in the scene, or just do the animation on this one. The animation is tempting - but my brain likes the idea of finishing off this task of BG matching while all this work is still fresh and I can remember what layer composite styles I used and all that jazz. I blocked out the animation tonight just to make the decision more difficult :)

Seems like you've really been cranking for the past week or so, Dave. Good to see 'cause that means we'll see the finished short sooner than later.
I would suggest, just from my experience, to go with setting up the backgrounds before doing the animation. Think of it like this - dessert should always come after dinner. ;)
