2 For the Price of 1 - Almost

I'm working on 2 shots that are closely related. I was hoping on finishing both tonight but there are some minor hook-up problems that I need to fix before I can sign off. Darn is all I can say. I'll elaborate later when I'm not so tired. In the meantime, here's an image from the first of the 2 shots. I'd show the other one but it reveals a little surprise that would be more fun to see later...
Thanks everyone for the nice comments you've been leaving here.

That post is at 3:28 in the AM!!! Burnin' that midnight oil, eh? That's dedication. It looks like the alien would need a mask for it's lower body, or is he chopped off at the waist? Keep it up and don't go insane from lack of sleep...

stuff is really looking quite beautiful dave...actually it's interesting and i dunno if you've noticed but since the beginning of this blog it seems like the visuals are getting even stronger...at least it comes across in the stills...you're much closer and could more approptiatley assess that but objectively it seems to be the case...
good luck!!! where's the home stretch?

That's a great still! The design you've done for you aliens is really great; simple, to the point but with a few little detials that give them character. Great, great stuff.

Can't wait to see more!

Thanks everyone.

Jason,
The Alien's body in this scene is covered by the foreground hat layer. I divided the hat into two parts so that I wouldn't have to make a matte or break down and erase the body level of the Alien.

C-bloggers,
I appreciate that you think things are getting stronger. I do feel like I'm learning as I go. I actually want to make some changes to some stuff in previous scenes, but mostly on the animation level. I know that everything will never be perfect. I'm learning how to accept it.

E,
I do try to eliminate needless details and keep just the ones needed to add interest. The shots move by so quickly, I can't afford distractions. Thanks again.
