Yo Dave. I was wandering through some of your past posts and was wondering about file size and lag time. I heard a Flash dude say to stay away from many alphas and transparencies if you want to avoind choppy scrubbing, playback and the like. With all of your scenes coming together, have you found your project affected is this way? p.s. It's looking WAY good! Keep it up!
If your goal is to showcase your animaton on the web with a Flash player, then some optimization is one of your priorities. Unfortunately, I'm no expert on that because my animation is being saved out to be seen though windows media player or Quicktime. I composite the Flash animation in After Effects - so I never save it out to be played in a Flash player. I'm using a modest to low amount of RAM (512MB) on a computer thats 4 years old. I use Flash MX (Flash 6)and the scrubbing within the program is not an issue. I've tried Flash 8 on the same PC and the performance suffered considerably. I'll be using MX until I get a newer PC.
